Yokohama AVS Model F50

New Twin 5-spoke Mold-Form Forged Version.

  1. The 5th model since the advent of the AVS VS5 and the successor to AVS MODEL T5, with the original twin 5-spoke design.
  2. Use of four molds ensures precise replication of design details in this mold-forged one-piece model.
  3. The new design uses a wider split in the twin spokes. Side cuts are made on the spoke surface only at the widest point between the spokes.
  4. The outside surfaces of the spokes and the side cut areas receive a diamond-cut finishing process after painting. This enhances the appeal of forged materials and gives the wheels a bolder, more assertive presence.
  5. 3D machining is used to carve AVS MODEL F50, FORGED, and JAPAN MADE logos on the sides of the rim between the spokes, highlighting the premium image of the AVS brand.
  6. The luxurious center ornament is also forged from aluminum (with colored letters). The ring portion consists of chrome plating on the milled aluminum surface, perfectly capturing the AVS no-compromise approach to design.
All the letters of the logos are embossed with 3D milling machines. Its difficult to produce clear letters in the forging process, which creates a bottleneck in production. To overcome this, YOKOHAMA relies on 3D milling machines to emboss the letters. All the spokes on MODEL F50 wheels have diamond-cut faces so letters have the clear contrast so essential to wheels of such a premium caliber.
The side cuts on the spokes are done with a 3D milling machine after the mold form forging process is finished. On MODEL F50 wheels, the milling is done after enameling, making the side cuts stand out by showing the wheels bright aluminum finish. The precise 3D milling is another testimony of the high quality of Made In Japan.
F50 wheels have F-1, F-2, and F-3 faces, each of which has a different degree of concave to the spokes. F-1 seems flat, and the F-3 seems to draw you in with approximately 10mm difference in center depth. Width, inset, and caliper clearance all must be meticulously engineered to create these precision wheels.
